control and automation electrical panels

in atex-Eex d pressurized execution for zone 1 & 2

In several different kinds of productions, due to the components employed in the fabrication process, dangerous situations can happen bringing to a ranger and risk of fire and explosion.

These situations are posed by the use of flammable liquids that, depending from their concentration in the air or temperature, make an air/vapors mixture that with an ignition made by a spark or an open flame, produce the explosion and the following fire.

The most commons of these liquids are the hydrocarbons, most often used in the production activity. All solvents when mixed with air are forming a special mixture that, when the solvent concentration reaches a minimal concentration, called the LEL (Lower Explosion Limit), if ignited this mixture produce and explosion with consequent fire. This mixture has the potential to explode until the UEL (Upper Explosion Limit) is reached, and after this more higher concentration there isany risk of explosion and fire.

All production points or parts of machinery that can generate, for leakage or incident, an explosive air mixture are called “Center of Danger” and the surroundings are defined a “dangerous zone” with a risk of explosion and fire.

Due to the fact that electrical components, if not manufactured following strict special Norms, are producing sparks, normal electrical components cannot be employed in zones with risk of explosion and fire.

When, for dimensions and complexity, in the case of huge panels is not possible manufacture an Explosion Proof panel, for technical reasons and high manufacturing costs, the normal electrical panel that has to be located in a dangerous zone, to be complying with the Law must be “pressurized” and equipped with a certified pressurizing system that guarantee its execution.

The certified pressurizing system prevent that an eventual air/solvent mixture cannot enter the panel and be, consequently, ignited by a component of the panel. This result is achieved sending inside the electrical panel compressed air forming a positive internal pressure compare the external pressure of the dangerous zone in which the panel is located.

All produced electrical panel are also stamped with the “CE” mark for conformity to ATEX 94/9/CE.

For zone ATEX of type 1, the certification is issued for the whole panel, complete of the pressurizing system. For the Zone of type 2 the certification released is only for the pressurizing system.

OMNIATEX may also supply electrical panels for dangerous zones with explosion and fire risk due to the presence of combustible powders as per Zone 21 and Zone 22 and electrical panels as per the American norm NFPA 496.

Can also be supplied electrical panels for Zone of type 1 with certification Eex d(ia) IIC T6(Eex p) and with certification INERIS 03ATEX00221X, and air conditioning systems, always for the electrical panel, with protection system Eex c IIB/C T4/T135°C.

The final result is a product that can be composed by several protection systems:

The electrical panels manufactured by OMNIATEX allow the location off the following products in areas with danger

of explosion and fire:
